Comprehensive Environmental Services is led by Neheru Singh, an EPA-certified lead inspector who has specialized in lead paint inspection and risk assessment across New Jersey since 2013. All Services →Neheru Singh entered the lead paint industry shortly after Hurricane Sandy, when storm-damaged homes across the region needed environmental inspections before federal assistance could be released for repairs and rebuilding. With families waiting and too few qualified inspectors available, Neheru stepped in, got licensed, and went to work helping people get their homes and lives back together.
What began as an opportunity to help during a difficult time became a genuine calling. The more Neheru learned about lead hazards and their impact on families — especially children — the more he understood how important this work truly is. Many homes in the Northeast are older properties where lead paint issues are far more common than people realize. His goal has always been to make the inspection process clear, fair, and manageable while protecting families from preventable lead hazards.
Today, after expanding his certifications across multiple EPA-administered states and participating in a national EPA survey on residential contaminants, Neheru brings that same purpose to every inspection in New Jersey: helping property owners, tenants, and communities move forward safely.
Comprehensive Environmental Services focuses exclusively on lead paint inspection and testing in New Jersey. That focus is a strength: it means every inspection is performed by a specialist who lives and breathes lead compliance, uses professional XRF equipment, and knows New Jersey's regulations inside and out — not a generalist treating lead as an afterthought.

New Jersey's Lead-Safe Certification Law requires most single- and two-family rental properties built before 1978 to be inspected for lead-based paint hazards and certified lead-safe. Inspections must be performed by a certified lead inspector or risk assessor, and certificates must be renewed periodically. We perform these inspections and provide reports formatted for state submission.
XRF (X-Ray Fluorescence) testing uses a handheld analyzer to detect lead in paint instantly, without damaging the surface. It's non-destructive, highly accurate, and gives immediate on-site results. We use professional-grade Viken Pb200 and SciAps X-550 XRF analyzers on every inspection where XRF testing is appropriate.
Most residential lead inspections take a few hours depending on the size of the property. Reports are typically delivered within 10 business days, and rush service is available when you're working against a tight compliance deadline.
Lead-based paint was banned for residential use in 1978, so properties built after that date are generally not subject to lead paint requirements. If your property is older — or you're unsure of its history — an inspection is the only way to know for certain. Many NJ Lead Law requirements specifically target pre-1978 rental units.
After lead paint abatement work is completed, an independent clearance examination confirms that all hazards have been properly addressed and the property is safe to re-occupy. Clearance testing must be performed by a certified inspector who is independent from the abatement contractor — which is exactly the role we fill.
